I'm pleased to share that my professional journey as a photographer and business owner has been featured on Influential Women, a platform highlighting the stories, experiences, and accomplishments of women across different industries.
The feature shares a little about my background, my path to photography, and what continues to inspire my work at Studio Lana in Albany, New York.
My professional journey hasn't followed a straight line. Before establishing Studio Lana, formerly Lana Ortiz Photography, I worked in the financial industry and owned a dance studio for seven years. Each chapter taught me something valuable about working with people, running a business, and finding opportunities to be creative. Photography eventually became the place where my appreciation for art, my entrepreneurial experience, and my love of connecting with people came together.
One of the questions Influential Women asked was what I attribute my success to.
My answer came back to something simple: growing up surrounded by art taught me to appreciate beauty, and I've always tried to find it in the people and world around me.
That perspective continues to influence my photography today. Whether I'm creating a painterly portrait inspired by classical art, photographing a wedding, or documenting a corporate event, my goal is to capture something genuine and meaningful. I especially enjoy helping people who aren't naturally comfortable in front of a camera discover how beautiful and confident they can look in photographs.
For me, photography is about more than producing a beautiful image. It's about the experience, the connection, and creating something that will have meaning long after the session ends. I'm grateful to the clients, friends, and community who have supported my journey, from my dance studio days to the growth of Studio Lana.
